“It’s fu**ing astounding” – When Joe Rogan was blown away by the MINDBENDING skills of Lionel Messi
Joe Rogan and Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi is considered by many to be the GOAT of football. And while his resume speaks for itself, it isn’t until you watch him play that you realize how insanely good he is. And it seems Joe Rogan recognizes Messi’s greatness.
Joe Rogan has been a combat sports analyst for decades. In fact, it’s difficult to remember a time when Joe wasn’t involved in the world of combat sports. However, his proclivity towards fighting doesn’t mean he can’t keep up with other sports.
In a clip from Joe’s podcast, he talks about Messi, clearly awestruck by his skills. “He’s like this technical wizard… What he can do with a ball. It’s f**king astounding. You have to be so much better than people to do something like that, it’s amazing. His footwork, it’s like he’s doing a different thing than them.”
Able to beat any player in the world 1v1, Messi does things with a football that seem nigh impossible to mere mortals. His unprecedented rivalry with Ronaldo saw them establish a duopoly on the Ballon D’Or, an immortal testament to their greatness. With over 700 goals and 300 assists, he certainly is one of the, if not the, greatest footballer to ever live. And clearly, Joe Rogan recognizes that Messi is just on a different level.

2022 might be Lionel Messi’s best and last chance to win the one trophy that’s eluded him
With 7 Ballon D’Ors and 6 Golden Boots, there isn’t much that La Pulga hasn’t won. He has 40 trophies in his illustrious career, making him the 2nd most decorated player in the history of football. However, there’s one trophy that has always eluded him, and it is the most prestigious one of them all.
Lionel Messi, despite his greatness, is yet to win football’s biggest prize, the World Cup. He came agonizingly close in 2014, reaching the finals. However, an amazing extra-time poacher’s finish by Mario Gotze sealed Messi’s fate. Despite taking home the Golden Ball, awarded to the best player at each WC, it was clear that not winning the World Cup haunted Messi.
Now, 8 years later, Messi has another crack at the World Cup. Argentina, have not lost in their last 35 games with 24 wins and 11 draws. They also secured the Copa America this year, winning Messi his first international trophy. After dominating all stats in that competition, Messi and his Argentina team seem to be one of the favorites to win this year’s WC. And as many people would say, football owes Messi a World Cup.
