Georges St-Pierre’s achievements in mixed martial arts are second to none. From being a two-division champion in the UFC to being Khabib Nurmagomedov’s dad’s favorite fighter, GSP has achieved a lot. In fact, the accolades he has received throughout his career place him in a spot to be acknowledged as one of the greatest of all time.

St Pierre’s glorious career and work ethic have earned him fans around the globe. His admirers often learn from and follow him. However, GSP’s popularity does not end there. Some of his counterparts in the welterweight division learned from GSP too. UFC stalwart Matt Brown once admitted that he learned more from the Canadian fighter compared to any other fighter.

Brown and St-Pierre were in the same division, but the duo never competed against each other. During an interview, ‘The Immortal’ expressed his regret over the same. “I’ve always wanted to fight him. I always thought I would have been a good matchup for him, although I may not have showed it recently, but honestly, I’ve looked up to GSP a s–t ton. I’ve learned more from him than just about any other fighter,” said Matt Brown. [H/T Fox Sports]

Despite being rivals in the same division, Matt Brown paying tribute to GSP was heartwarming for fans to witness. However, Brown did not stop there. He further praised GSP’s resilience to never back down and always find a way.

Due to the qualities he possesses, many fans believe Georges St-Pierre is everything a martial artist should be. However, more than these qualities, like a true martial artist, GSP never backs down. Despite facing only two losses in his MMA career, ‘Rush’ did not let those losses define him. He went back, faced the fighters he lost against, and managed to defeat them.

The Canadian’s first loss came against Matt Hughes when he challenged the American for the vacant Welterweight Championship at UFC 50. In the very first round, Hughes submitted GSP via an armbar. However, St-Pierre did not let his loss stop him. After amassing five consecutive wins since his loss at UFC 50, GSP again faced Hughes and triumphed over him with a TKO win in round two. He showed similar grit against Matt Serra as he beat the fighter despite losing to him the first time.

Praising GSP’s ability to always create a path, Matt Brown said, “Probably more than anything, the way he turned his career around. He came in the UFC and came up pretty fast, but then he lost to (Matt) Hughes, came back, and beat Hughes. Lost to (Matt) Serra, came back and beat Serra. The way he’s able to evolve and able to find a way to win, it’s very respectable. He just found a way.”
