Clay Guida is undoubtedly a legend of the sport. The veteran MMA fighter has been around in UFC since the promotion brought the StrikeForce. The 40-year-old recently fought Scott Holtzman at UFC on ESPN: Thompson vs. Holland. Despite coming into the fight with a loss, Guida put on an impressive performance and won the fight via split decision.

After his win, MMA fighter Will Brooks took the opportunity to share a story about how Guida came forward to help him when he was in need. According to the former Bellator champion, Guida paid for Brooks’ medical work which helped him to go professional.

Will wrote on his Twitter account, “Story time. When I was trying to turn pro, I didn’t have the money to get all the medical work neccessary to turn pro.I had a sponsor that bailed on paying for the medical work. Clay Guida stepped in and paid for my medical work so I could turn pro.”

Guida is a highly respected fighter and has fought amazing opponents throughout his career. Currently, even at the age of 40 he is winning bouts and chasing records.

After winning his bout against Scott Holtzman, Clay Guida did an interview with ESPN MMA‘s Brett Okamoto. During the interview, the fighter got to know that he successfully passed Frankie Edgar and Demetrius Johnson in the UFC takedowns record.

The fighter was extremely happy and proud of the fact and revealed that he would like to take the top position by beating Georges St-Pierre’s record of 90 career takedowns in the UFC.

“One of my goals in the UFC is to have the most takedowns. So we’re climbing that ladder because I believe George St-Pierre has the most I think….also the next thing I want to do is have the most fights in UFC,” said Guida.

Even though he’s in his 40s, Guida looked sharp in his recent fight and definitely has the potential to take part in a few more fights. It would be interesting to see if he will be able to beat GSP’s monumental record.
