Edwards has been waiting for this exact moment for a long time. On a nine-fight win streak, organizational politics or sheer bad luck often got in his way of challenging for the ultimate prize in his division. Now recently turned 30, Edwards is happy about the fight happening but is very confused by its venue.

At his recent appearance on the MMA Hour with Helwani, Leon revealed that he had got into Utah, almost 10 days prior to the event and was surely spooked by the choice of location for his main event fight at UFC 278

This is only the second UFC event held in the state of Utah and the first to be a pay-per-view. The last time, it was headlined by Yair Rodriguez and Alex Caceres and it drew a lackluster gate below 7000 attendees. The same seems to be the case for UFC 278, with the Vivint Arena still having unsold seats and resellable seats, something very unusual for a UFC live event since the pandemic.

When asked about how he felt through his week in Utah, a place he didn’t know existed until his fight was announced there, Leon said, “It’s beautiful with the mountains anyway, it’s like an outdoorsy place, it’s good in the winter for snowboarding and s***, no good for me though I’m black” as he let out a chuckle while trying to show Ariel his current residence up in the mountains

Leon was then asked if the people there had started to get an idea why he was in Utah, he said, “Now they do since I’ve been telling them, but it’s mad, I don’t know why the UFC came here. “
