The last time Usman and Edwards went against each other it was in 2015 when the Nigerian won easily. However, this time things could be different. The Brit is looking great and is confident that he will give his best in order to win the belt. In a recent interview during UFC London, Edwards opened up about his mindset going into the fight next month. He said :

“I don’t think it’s going to be easy. I want to take it away from him, and I plan to do that. I’m not going in there looking for an easy fight. I’m going in there to beat the champion and become the champion. He was the last guy to beat me. Everyone claims he’s pound-for-pound (best). They say he can’t be beaten. It’s the perfect time for it to happen, and I can’t wait.”

The hype around the fight is huge and fans are super excited for this match-up. While Edwards is the underdog going into the fight, he might give the fans one of the biggest upsets in recent history by beating Usman.

Edwards was recently spotted at the commonwealth games being held in Birmingham. The fighter was there to interact with the fans and support the athletes who came to participate. Edwards also got an opportunity to carry the torch for the commonwealth games and the moment was captured by the crowd and the media.

The torch was initially carried by Laura Unsworth who is a big inspiration among young athletes. Laura has won a gold medal in Hockey for Great Britain and has made her country proud. Halfway through, Unsworth handed over the torch to Edwards who carried it along Holland streets and received cheers from the crowd.

Edwards is definitely a huge star in the UK and gets a lot of support from the English fight fans. Many British fighters have been a part of UFC in the past but not many got the opportunity to become the champion. Edwards has the chance to beat Usman and join Michael Bisping as the only two British champions.
