“Not a good guy for the UFC”- Francis Ngannou declares he fell out of favor with the UFC due to his contract conundrum
Francis Ngannou
The battle between UFC and their heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou is an ongoing one and “The Predator” drops some thoughts on how everything unfurled.
Francis Ngannou is coming off a win against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 making it his first win as the champion of the heavyweight division. There are high probabilities that UFC 270 was the last time Francis would have fought in the UFC. The fighter from Cameroon and the MMA promotion has been in disputes for quite some time now over the fighter’s contract.
In a recent upload on his YouTube channel, the heavyweight champion talks about his fight outside the cage with the UFC and the fact that he could become a free agent after defending his belt. “I am not a good guy for the UFC anymore,” said Ngannou. “Starting from not signing that contract and saying no multiple times, this is something they don’t like. But I have to look out for myself. I have to do what is best for me.”
Francis Ngannou calls out UFC on their “3-fight a year” contract
The UFC and its president Dana White have claimed multiple times that they give their fighters a 3-fight a year contract. Ngannou calls out the UFC for not actually providing him with fights in the last two years. “The fact that the contract is one way. For the past two years, they claim to provide 3 fights for their fighters every year. In the past two years, I have fought only twice. I could have fought at least five times,” said Ngannou.
“I’ve been going through that contract for the past two years, two and half years, and…I find nothing that is good for me in there,” said Ngannou. “I don’t have that freedom, which is very important for me. In the past when I was asking for a fight, I had to beg for a fight.”
Francis is now very clear that if nothing is changed, he will not be fighting in the UFC anymore and he will look to change directions and choose the route of boxing. The fighter is already in talks with the boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury to set up a mega-fight.
