Now that Pena is the bantamweight champion, she believes she deserves more money and demands to be treated like a champion. As Julianna Pena was taking on Amanda Nunes in one of the biggest fights of the year, the promotion was hoping to make the biggest fight in women’s combat sports. Amanda Nunes vs Kayla Harrison was a fight that was going to be determined by the result of Pena vs Nunes at UFC 269.

In the recent episode of Joe Rogan Experience, Julianna talks about the situation with Kayla Harrison and how she deserves more money to fight anyone as the champion. “If Kayla wants to come to the UFC and make weight, pack your lunch, chick,” says Julianna talking to Rogan on the podcast.

Kayla is a two-time PFL winner and also an Olympic gold medalist. In terms of size, Harrison fights in a higher weightclass than Julianna. But, Pena is willing to step up to the 145-lb class in case Harrison wants to fight. “35, 45 whatever you guys wanna do. If it don’t make money, it don’t make sense. And what’s the job of a fighter, especially with the window being this small…my job is to make as much money as possible,” said Julianna.

“Pay me I’ll fight whoever you want, I’ll fight Fedor! Just pay me!” pleads Pena on the podcast. The new champion believes she is not asking for too much and that as a champion she deserves to be in a bigger paycheck bracket. Pena also believes she is currently at the peak of her career.

“I feel like I’m not asking for too much, especially as a champion. ‘I wanna get paid!’ Is that too much to ask? I’m a professional. I’m at the height of my game, I’m a champion, I’m at the top of my league. Pay me!”
