UFC President Dana White shares gruesome images of welterweight champion Kamaru Usman’s ligament surgery
Dana White and Kamaru Usman
Kamaru Usman was the most successful fighter last year in the UFC. The fighter successfully defended his championship status thrice in 2021 against some of the most dangerous fighters in the division. The fighter has been undefeated in the UFC and has dominated every fighter he has faced inside the octagon.
In his last fight, Usman shut down Colby Covington for the second time. He proved himself and ultimately cemented his position as the champion with no contender to fight him. Before fighting Covington at UFC 268, Usman revealed that he hurt his right hand during his training camp ahead of the fight.
But the injury didn’t stop the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ to take the fight against his arch-enemy Covington. Despite suffering from an injury on his dominating hand, Usman won the fight via unanimous decision.
Dana White shares Kamaru Usman’s surgery pictures in his latest Instagram post
The welterweight champion underwent hand surgery which the fighter had suffered in his recent bouts. Dana White recently posted some graphic pictures of Usman’s surgery on his official Instagram account.
The post was a before and after comparison of Usman’s severed ligament being operated on. White in the caption explained that the number one ranked fighter in the UFC Pound-for-pound rankings has gone through hand surgery and will be looking forward to seeing the champion in the octagon soon.
“Pound for pound best fighter in the world @usman84kg had hand ligament surgery today. This is the before and after. See you soon champ” wrote White.
Currently, there are no reports regarding when Usman will return. While talking to ESPN, Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz revealed that Usman will be ready to fight again from July during UFC 276. Abdelaziz also suggested that Usman should think about moving up to the middleweight division and challenge Israel Adesanya for the title.
But the fighter has always been clear about his ideas on not fighting Adesanya. It is because both the fighters are from the same part of the world, are very close, and have humongous respect for each other. However, Ali feels something different and is positive about the two fighting.
