UFC releases ‘GOAT’ Anderson Silva after 14 years with promotion

After being a UFC fighter for 14 years, Anderson Silva, the GOAT of the sport of MMA, is no longer a UFC fighter. Despite your thoughts about Silva’s recent fights, he was an absolute beast in his prime and the GOAT of the middleweight division no doubt. He has amassed a fantastic career with a mind-blowing 16 fight win-streak and a UFC record of 17-7 and one no contest.
The former middleweight champion and legend, Anderson Silva, has been released from his contract as reported by MMA fighting and then later, the news was confirmed by a UFC official on Thursday to MMA Junkie.
Despite losing his latest fight against “Uriah Hall” via fourth-round TKO, a bout was left on his contract. It seems that the Spider decided to part ways with the company anyway and vice versa. Silva is now open to being a part of other organisations.
“Dana White” previously told TMZ that Silva was still under contract but later, on Thursday afternoon, claimed that he was mistaken confirmed that Anderson Silva has indeed been released from his UFC contract.

Silva started his journey back in 1997 and has fought in PRIDE, UFC and multiple other organizations. He claimed UFC gold only in his 2nd fight in the UFC by finishing “Rich Franklin”. Whatever the Spider decides to do from now on, we wish him the best of luck and future fighters will always be inspired by him. Anderson, you are an absolute legend!
No one could not touch Anderson Silva in his prime, just ask “Forrest Griffin”. With that said, no one can win against the reigning, defending, undisputed champion Mother Nature. Age seems to have caught up with the 45-year-old as he has lost 7 of his last 9 fights, with one being a no content against “Nick Diaz” for failing a drug test and 1 win against “Derek Brunson” via unanimous decision
Silva is now open to joining other organisations if he so wishes. When asked Bellator president Scott Coker, who has built quite a reputation of hiring veteran UFC fighters, said about Silva “I have a lot of respect for him. He’s definitely one of the greatest fighters in the history of mixed martial arts,” Coker said. “I really haven’t thought about it, but I think I’m happy with the way our roster is heading and the fighters that we have now.”
The 45-year-old Silva has, throughout his lifetime, contemplated retirement. However, being released does not necessarily mean he will retire. What do you guys think?
