UFC strawweight Rose Namajunas has had many ups and downs to reach the pinnacle of becoming the first-ever 2-time UFC strawweight champion. “Thug” made her UFC debut by opening up the UFC women’s strawweight division alongside Carla Esparza. Namajunas lost that fight in a decision but it never made her lose her hopes and hence did the unthinkable in 2017 when she defeated the then-undefeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk via knockout to win the strawweight gold.

Through it all Namajunas had her better half beside her. Today we will learn a little about Rose Namajunas’ fiancee Pat Barry and how the couple met each other.

Rose Namajunas‘ fiancee is Pat Barry, the former mixed martial artist. He was born in Louisiana. His parents traveled the world indulging in Philanthropy. As a result, Barry spent the first six years of his life on Colombia.

He was an athletic child and soon took up Karate and kickboxing on his return to the US. The fighter also had a chance to represent the US in the 2003 World Wushu Championships in Macau. He eventually made his UFC debut in 2008 and fought in the promotion till 2013.

Pat Barry’s professional career

Barry last fought in the UFC Octagon in the heavyweight division and retired from the sport with an MMA record of 8 wins and 7 losses. His inconsistency in the octagon prevented him from ever getting a title shot. But before that, Parry was an amazing kickboxer with a record of 17 wins and just 6 losses in his wing. After his retirement from the UFC, he returned to kickboxing and joined GLORY.

Rose first met Pat at Duke Roufus’ Gym. The two sparred and Namajunas hit the heavyweight across his face. Despite that, the two eventually started dating. They have been together for more than a decade. Morever, Barry supports Namajunas at every step and has been part of her corner every time she has fought.
