“He was never going to make it to the fight,” Sean Strickland claims “coward” Luke Rockhold was going to dodge this fight anyways!
Sean Strickland and Luke Rockhold
Sean Strickland was supposed to face the former UFC champion, Luke Rockhold, at UFC 268. Rockhold was going to return after a long time, but it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer to see him back in action.
Rockhold pulled out from the fight due to a back injury. The former champion hasn’t competed since 2019, and fans were disappointed with this news. Strickland, however, wasn’t surprised by this.
He believes Rockhold had no choice but to dodge this fight. Strickland replied to a couple of Instagram comments to put the word out there, he wrote, “He was never going to make it to the fight lmao… no one is surprised. I sparred him once and almost put him out.. didn’t even spar the second round, walked out of the gym lmao.. I knew this wasn’t happening.”

Here’s the complete statment from Luck Rockhold for pulling out from his fight against Sean Strickland
Rockhold shared a video on his Instagram account where he declared this news. He said, “There’s no easy way to really say it but the fight is off in New York, I ended up herniating a disc in my back, L4, L5, and the docs say it’s nothing I can play with. I need to do some treatment with some recovery time.”
“Some things just aren’t meant to be. New York, motherf*cking New York. Sorry to the friends and the family and the peeps and all the people but we’ll be back. Till next time.”
The promotion is now looking for a replacement for Strickland who is on a five-fight win streak with his latest win coming against Uriah Hall. Although the options are very limited as this fight card at UFC 268 as is just a few weeks away and all the top-ranked fighters already have a fight booked.
