The Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, will host the upcoming UFC Fight Night this weekend. The fight card features a combination of rising prospects and seasoned veterans. Notably, the main event will showcase a clash between former UFC double champion Henry Cejudo and Chinese bantamweight fighter Song Yadong.
With just a few days left before the fight, Henry Cejudo and Song Yadong are notably quieter than most pre-fight confrontations. However, things changed when they met each other recently. Both fighters, who are headlining the UFC event in Seattle, shook hands at a facility. Following this encounter, Cejudo took to his social media to make a subtle jab at Yadong.
Just ran into The Dong. He’s smaller than I thought! #UFCSeattle

Cejudo humorously pointed out that Yadong seemed smaller than expected. Ironically, the Chinese fighter is actually 5 feet 8 inches tall, while the American fighter stands at just 5 feet 4 inches, according to UFC stats. This could be seen as a tactic to attract attention within the UFC community and build excitement for their upcoming clash.

Over the years, Cejudo has established a remarkable reputation with his impressive records in the UFC. Notably, he became one of the very few UFC double champions in history. At UFC 227, the American fighter defeated Demetrious Johnson to become the UFC flyweight champion.
After that, Cejudo won the vacant UFC bantamweight championship by defeating Marlon Moraes at UFC 238. Interestingly, while Cejudo took a dig at Yadong, the Chinese fighter also clapped back at the American fighter.
Song Yadong wants to ‘retire off’ Henry Cejudo again
‘Triple C’ Henry Cejudo is a veteran in the UFC. Since his promotional debut back in 2014, Cejudo enjoyed a successful career. Back in 2020, the American fighter seemingly announced his retirement from the sport. However, after a three-year hiatus, he returned to the octagon and faced Merab Dvalishvili in his most recent UFC fight.

After losing to Dvalishvili, Cejudo is now preparing to face another tough opponent in the UFC bantamweight division. Although Cejudo has an impressive track record in the promotion, Song Yadong appears to be undeterred. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, the Chinese fighter expressed his desire to retire Cejudo once again.
I believe I will make him retire off this one. It’s going to be once I beat (him) up.

When discussing Yadong’s fight record, it’s clear that the Chinese fighter’s UFC career has been a mix of victories and defeats. Notably, similar to Cejudo, Yadong also faced a dominant loss in his last fight against Petr Yan. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see which fighter, Yadong or Cejudo, can turn their last defeat into a victory in their upcoming clash.
