Giga Chikadze talks to Alexander Volkanovski about title shot

The featherweight title fight spot against Alexander Volkanovski is up for grabs and Giga Chikadze is determined to not let this one slide.

Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski was paired against his nemesis Max Holloway for a stunning trilogy fight for UFC 272 but things seemed to have hit the fan as “Blessed” pulled out of the fight moments after the confirmation of the fight. Volkanovski is now left with no title contender and the champ wants to defend his title against veteran Chan Sung Jung aka Korean Zombie.

Giga Chikadze, the rising talent couldn’t help but laugh at Alex looking past him for the title shot after what he’s achieved in the UFC. Chikadze is undefeated in the UFC and is one of the favorites to become the champion. The fighter made his debut in 2019 and is currently riding on a 7-fight winning streak. Chikadze called out Volkanovski for not considering him as a replacement.

Volkanovski has nothing but respect for the rising featherweight. The champion explained why he did not consider Chikadze as the next to fight for the title. “All respect bro but your fighting for rank #5 next week….See you soon!!” said Volkanovski replying to Chikadze’s sarcastic laughs.

Chikadze is currently ranked #8 and is taking on #5 featherweight Calvin Kattar at UFC Vegas 46. The fighter is looking to extend his winning streak to eight fights and make it to the #5 spot in the rankings. Currently, the Korean Zombie is ranked #4 and is the frontrunner to challenge the Volk at UFC 272.
