Sergei Pavlovich is a Russian mixed martial artist who competes in the heavyweight division of the UFC. Furthermore, Pavlovich comes from a country with a rich tradition of producing formidable MMA fighters. Subsequently, he has added to that legacy with his skills and achievements in the sport. In addition, Pavlovich is known for his striking abilities, particularly his punching power.

He has demonstrated a knack for finishing fights with knockout victories, and his striking prowess has been a highlight of his career. Sergei Pavlovich made his UFC debut in 2018 and has competed against some of the best heavyweights in the organization. While he suffered a loss in his UFC debut, he rebounded with a win in his next fight.

Pavlovic shocked UFC fans with a stunning first-round KO of his opponent, Curtis Blaysdes, at UFC Vegas 71. Furthermore, Pavlovic showed once again why he is the best knockout artist in the UFC with another first-round KO. A glance at Pavlovic’s record will tell you that he has won 83 percent of his pro-MMA bouts by knockout of the knockout (KOs) or total knockout (TKOs).

Even the well-known Australian UFC heavyweight Tai ‘Bam Bam’ Tuivasa was unable to withstand his heavy punches and suffered a KO loss, which came in the first round. Pavlovich has won 18 of his pro-MMA fights in his career. Furthermore, 15 of his victories have been by KO or TKO, while 3 of his victories were via decision. Subsequently, Pavlovic has only suffered one loss in his entire MMA career so far.

Sergei Pavlovich’s only loss in his MMA career

Pavlovich fought his first 12 professional MMA fights outside the UFC before he joined the promotion. Hence, he was able to maintain an unbeaten record before his UFC debut. However, in his first UFC fight, the Russian found out that UFC fighters are different, as he suffered his first loss against Alistair Overeem.

After finding some early success in the fight, Pavlovic began to struggle as Overeem started to close the gap. Furthermore, in the fight, Overeem transitioned from a Thai clinch to a knee strike and landed hard blows on Pavlovic’s midsection. However, The Beast from the East was seriously injured after being tripped by his opponent, who knocked him to the canvas.

Overeem then finished the fight in no time, as Pavlovich was unable to cope with the power of Overeem’s ground strikes. After his debut loss, the Russian bounced back with a first-round knockout victory against Marcelo Golm at UFC Fight Night 149 in April 2019. This win demonstrated his resilience and the potential he had in the heavyweight division.
