Shocking as Cain Velasquez denied bail in Santa Clara , to remain in custody
Cain Velasquez
Irrespective of his righteous reasons, Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez might suffer for much longer than expected because of his rage. Velasquez, who last fought in 2019 and left the sport sadly due in the wake of his consistent injuries, was one of the most decorated champions of the UFC in 2010s. Velasquez, a heavyweight who used to strike with the speed of lighter weight classes, owns victories over the likes of Travis Browne, Junior Dos Santos, Brock Lesnar, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Ben Rothwell, Chieck Congo and many more.
Velasquez, aged 39, was arrested back on February 28, 2022, after allegedly chasing down the man by the name of Harry Eugene Golarte, who is being charged with molesting a young relative of Velasquez. After chasing down, Velasquez shot Golarte’s vehicle per the Santa Clarar County District Attorney. Another person in Golarte’s car, Paul Bender, his stepfather, was shot by Velasquez’s gun in arm and torso. However, Bender suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Cain Velasquez’s next court hearing to take place in April 12
In the recent update of events regarding Cain’s legal proceedings following the gun shooting incident, Judge Sherlyna Brown of the Santa Clara County (California) said the “risk is too great” to let Cain Velasquez out on bail due to the “extreme recklessness” on the retired fighter’s actions. The next court hearing will take place on April 12, 2022.
Last Wednesday, Velasquez was formally charged with attempted murder and 10 other gun-related charges by Santa Clara County district attorney Jeff Rosen. Velasquez is facing 20 or more years of jail time, if convicted. Velasquez followed Goularte’s truck in his own vehicle on an “11-mile, high-speed chase” through the city of San Jose, rammed the truck and fired a 40-caliber handgun multiple times into the truck, which carried Goularte, Bender and Goularte’s mother, Patricia, according to the DA’s office. The child, who is under 10 years old, told a Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputy Feb. 24 that Goularte took him into the bathroom of a day care center and touched the child’s genitals, per a court document obtained by ESPN. The child said Goularte said not to tell anyone what happened and that this had occurred “100 times.” In the court document, the child said he witnessed other kids go into the bathroom with Goularte, too. What do you guys make of this delay in the release of Cain Velasquez? For all the reports that have been coming out, Velasquez’s relative was molested multiple times, many fighters have come out in support of Velasquez for the reasons that it could’ve been anyone taking revenge for the trauma their relative might go through after such a disgusting act by the molester. Where do you put Velasquez amongst the all time great heavyweight fighters in UFC?
