“I’ve never been so scared” – UFC star Paddy Pimblett recounts his horrifying experience with goons at Real Madrid vs Liverpool UCL Final 2022
Paddy Pimblett talks about scary experience in UCL Finals
If you are a Paddy Pimblett fan, you already know how big of a supporter the UFC star is of his hometown football club, Liverpool FC. Recently Paddy had the chance to go see his team play Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Finals at the amazing Stade de France in Paris.
Liverpool FC faced a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid as they failed to win the UEFA Champions League trophy in the finals. However, for Liverpool fans like Paddy Pimblett, watching their team lose in the finals was only the second worse event that happened on that day. Before the football match was started, several Liverpool fans who traveled across countries to watch their club play were attacked outside the Stade de France.
In an interview with RMC Sport Combat, Paddy Pimblett recounted his horrible experience in the finals. When we came out of that ground there was groups of 30 men running around in big packs and some of them had weapons. Some of them had machetes, knives, bars, bats, and stuff like that,” said Pimblett talking to RMC.
The 2-0 UFC fighter witnessed fellow Scousers get tear-gassed by the police as many were scammed off their tickets and were not allowed in. The incident was terrifying as children who were supporters of the UK club were stranded outside the gates of Stade de France. “Before the game, I saw a few tickets getting snatched, people running away with tickets. Obviously getting in was bad with police tear-gassing everyone.”
Paddy Pimblett says he will never go back to that stadium
“I saw people with machetes running around. The only thing I can compare it to is the movie, ‘The Purge’,” said Paddy Pimblett talking to RMC Sport. The UFC fighter has had a lot of professional fights in the octagon but nothing scared the Scouse fighter more than watching his and other fans’ lives put to a threat by the officials in the stadium.
“I’d never go back to that stadium ever again. I’ve said I’ll never go to Paris with the missus. They say it’s a romantic place but after that, I’ll never take her there.” Despite the terrible experience, Paddy managed to escort him and his partner carefully in and out of the stadium without being hurt.
