Power Slap is one of Dana White‘s biggest ventures outside of UFC. However, since its inauguration, PSL has attracted a variety of criticism from experts as well as fans. The current UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall was also against Power Slap, but recently changed his opinion.
Tom Aspinall is one of the most popular and loved MMA fighters on the current roster. The Brit is quite active on social media, and often engages with his fans via his YouTube channel. In a recent video, he was asked about his opinion on Power Slap and the fighter shared his honest opinion.
I would say underrated. I have been to an event. I changed my opinion on it, I thought it was really good.

Power Slap is criticized for promoting brain trauma, as unprotected head strikes increase the risk of serious injuries like concussions and CTE. Many argue it lacks true skill, reducing combat sports to endurance tests against brain damage rather than competition. Critics say it prioritizes viral shock value over fighter safety, but all this never mattered to Dana White.
The CEO has done everything in his resources to promote Power Slap over the last few years. According to White, it is a whopping $750 million venture and has the potential to beat UFC. Recent reports from Forbes suggest that the league earned around $50 million in revenue in 2024. It seems like Tom Aspinall, like many others, changes his opinion on PSL after watching it live.
UFC veteran stresses over Tom Aspinall’s next fight in the UFC
Tom Aspinall has been eyeing his title unification bout with heavyweight champion Jon Jones for a long time now. Both fighters have aimed several online jabs at each other, which has solidified their rivalry. Jones has always been reluctant to fight a young and hungry Aspinall, and was more inclined towards going against Alex Pereira.

According to Jones, the Brazilian is a much more popular star than Aspinall at the moment. UFC CEO Dana White, however, has made it clear that the Brit is next in line for the title. Despite that, there have been no new updates about the fight and UFC veteran Michael Bisping has raised questions.
What’s going on with that one? We’ve got to get an announcement on Tom versus Jones pretty soon. I would say if they’re going to fight on International Fight Week or something like that, they’ve got to announce it. They’ve got to start the training camps, and the fact that they haven’t is giving me cause for concern.

As a UK native, Bisping is trying his best to promote his fellow countrymen against Jones. With his size, skillset, and knockout power, Aspinall has the ability to finish Jones. However, these questions will only be answered inside the octagon in the future.
