Stephen Thompson is ready to fight Jorge Masvidal, after Leon Edwards made it clear that he will not entertain a fight against ‘Gamebred’ anymore. ‘Rocky’ who has been on an unbeaten streak for a very long time (9 wins in a row), clarified that only a welterweight title was in his mind.

Edwards’ Tweet read: “My next fight will be for the world title I don’t want to hear nothing about a guy coming off 2 fight skid and Got ko his last fight.” In the wake of this number 5 ranked welterweight Stephen Thompson has expressed his desire to set up a showdown with Jorge Masvidal.

‘Wonderboy’ is coming off a defeat against Gilbert Burns in the co-main event of UFC 264. He had his two-fight winning streak snapped due to a unanimous decision loss. The last time he faced Masvidal, was UFC 217 in November 2017. He won the fight via. unanimous decision.

Masvidal, on the other hand, is coming off a brutal knockout loss against Kamaru Usman at UFC 261. He had lost his previous fight with Usman as well (at UFC 251). With 2 winless fights, and age catching up, Masvidal will be itching to get back to winning ways. Will he accept Thompson’s callout?
