Recently, Alex Pereira visited a mall in Brazil, where he surprised locals by generously helping them pay their bills without hesitation. Pereira grew up in a favela in Brazil, facing poverty and hardship while working at a tire shop. Life was incredibly tough, and he had to drop out of school early to support his family through physical labor daily. Despite the struggles, Pereira remained determined, using every challenge as fuel to one day achieve greatness in combat sports worldwide.

His journey from a poor, hard-working boy to a UFC champion is a testament to perseverance, discipline, and unwavering self-belief. Pereira often reflects on his roots, using his story to inspire underprivileged youth to never give up on their dreams. Now successful, he is grounded and continues helping others who face the same struggles he once endured growing up.

Pereira is currently one of the biggest pay-per-view stars on the UFC roster. He has saved the promotion multiple times by jumping in at the last minute and giving a dominating performance. However, his last outing was a disappointment, which caused doubt among fight fans.

Despite the defeat, Pereira remains a top contender, determined to bounce back and reclaim his spot at the top. Apart from the title rematch, there were also talks about him fighting the middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis. In a recent podcast, Pereira’s mentor and former UFC champion, Glover Teixeira, talked about the same in detail.

I think it’s [Pereira vs. Du Plessis is] a good fight. I think that’s probably the next fight for [Pereira]. Who [else] is next for Alex?… I don’t know if he can [make 185 again], I’m not going to say that he can’t. He probably can. It’s just like too much.

Pereira and Du Plessis have developed a heated rivalry fueled by mutual ambition, pride, and contrasting fighting styles. Their tension began when DDP criticized Pereira’s rapid rise, questioning his legacy and even calling him out. Pereira fired back, stating Du Plessis hasn’t faced anyone of his caliber and promising to expose weaknesses in his game.

The rivalry has captivated fans, with both fighters exchanging words and teasing a future clash that could headline a major event. However, after Pereira’s recent loss, the idea behind this fight has been temporarily extinguished. If ‘Poatan’ manages to reclaim his belt in the rematch, that might give DDP an opponent to move up and fight.

As anticipation grows, the UFC fans eagerly await a high-stakes battle that could define both fighters’ legacies in the octagon. But for now, Pereira needs to focus on fighting a wrestling-heavy champion like Magomed Ankalaev.
