“Take my money”- Michael Bisping calls for a Khamzat Chimaev vs. Gilbert Burns co-main event at UFC 273

Khamzat Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns looks more and more of a reality as both fighters have spoken of their interest and intention to fight one another as recently Chimaev shared a private chat between Burns and him with the former asking for a bout on April 9th to which ‘Borz’ replied, “Yes brother let’s go”.
Gilbert Burns also did acknowledge the fact that many fighters were turning him down and said in an interview with Combate that the rapidly rising star Khamzat Chimaev was one of the few fighters ready to take him on.
“I’m already in negotiations for my next fight. A lot of people did not accept, so the negotiation has been a little more complicated. I keep watching fights and when somebody in my division is fighting, I go crazy wishing that they would call me out, but nobody does. We’ll see when this next fight comes.
He continued, “We’ve been negotiating, we’re looking at an April slot. We’re just trying to establish an opponent. It could be Chimaev. He’s one of the few guys who has accepted and we’re still negotiating. We’ll see. It could be him next.”
For Chimaev, this fight could certainly put him as next in line for the welterweight title shot as he has risen up the ranks knocking out all four of his UFC opponents, and the most notable fighter after Kamaru Usman would surely and certainly be none other than ‘Durinho’.
With fans all around the globe just waiting for this fight to take place, Michael Bisping showed his excitement in wanting to see a thrilling fight between the terrifying new prospect and the former world title challenger. He went on to say on his YouTube channel, “So potentially, UFC 273, co-main event I’ll say, is Khamzat Chimaev taking on Gilbert Burns. Yet to see if it becomes formal or not, but sign me up, take my money, I can’t wait for that one. What a fight that is.”

Michael Bisping took to his YouTube podcast to talk about the exciting matchup that could take place between Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns and says he can’t wait to see this fight all the while praising both the welterweights.
“We’re talking Khamzat Chimaev taking on none other than ‘El Durinho’ Gilbert Burns, okay, and I love it. I think this is a tremendous matchup okay.”
He went on to speak about how Chimaev almost retired from the sport after getting heavily affected by Covid and how he came back. He said, “I’m glad that he did because then he came back against Li Jingliang in October and he picked up the leach, had a chat with Dana White, threw him down, and then choked him out.”
He went on to say, “Khamzat Chimaev is the real deal. Doesn’t seem to have any weak areas.”
Bisping spoke in length about the techniques that both the fighters use and said that though the fight hasn’t been confirmed he can see it taking place at UFC 273.
“Listen, I mean I’m talking here like the fight’s a done deal. It’s not a done deal yet but as I say with the gen, with the UFC, the way they operate, both guys want it, and there’s a fan outcry like I said. There’s a really good chance that we see that.”
He’s not wrong when he speaks about the fans wanting this fight as everyone is looking forward to the two power hitters taking a shot at each other.
