Former and longest-reigning UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has given her verdict on her former gym mate Colby Covington who’s now going to fight Joanna’s gym mate and Covington’s former best friend in Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. Masvidal and Covington are now turned into this bitter rival that is going down as one of the baddest rivals in UFC history and has therefore put every trash talk on the line that has crossed all lines in itself.
Covington and Masvidal’s rivalry started noticeably in the public eye from 2019 onwards. Both were best friends and teammates cornering each other during the fight for a time period of 8 years before they fell apart. Masvidal blames Covington for not paying his striking coach Paulino Hernandez and Covington fires back at Masvidal for being a backstabbing friend.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk thinks Colby Covington should stick to just training rather than trash talking
In an interview with ESPN MMA, Joanna talks about her relations with Covington during the latter’s days in American Top Team (ATT) as Covington has trashed Joanna as well in his interview with ESPN MMA. Joanna specifically talks about one time when they both went on an intense argument with each other.
“He said so many bad things about Conor McGregor,” says Joanna “But there’s only one Conor McGregor in this world you know and for such a long time he was acting like him you know [like] smacking about him but acting like Conor you know but Conor is natural, Colby is not. He [Covington] should just stick to training and fighting, this is what he is doing best,“ Joanna concludes.
