“I don’t know if he’s ever going to come back” TJ Dillashaw is uncertain about Aljamain Sterling returning back after neck surgery

TJ Dillashaw and Aljamain Sterling

The current UFC Bantamweight Champion, Aljamain Sterling was forced to withdraw from his scheduled UFC 267 fight against Petr Yan, as he is still recovering from neck surgery. This led to the introduction of the interim title fight between Cory Sandhagen and Petr Yan on October 30th.

The former two-time UFC Bantamweight champion, TJ Dillashaw finds it hard to believe that Sterling will ever go back to combat once more after he underwent the sort of critical neck surgical procedure and he comments that Sterling should have dealt with neck pain for a while, rather than undergoing this kind of surgery that may keep him out indefinitely.

In his latest interview with Ariel Helwani for MMA Hour, Dillashaw says, “I don’t even know if Aljo’s ever going to come back to be honest, From what he had done, it’s kind of crazy. If I was him, I would have waited to get that done. My coaches, my strength and conditioning coach as well as my wrestling coach, sells the medical equipment that did his neck, don’t believe he’s ever going to come back.”

“I think he’s just holding onto this belt as long as he can. I’ve had that feeling already so when he pulled out of the fight, I wasn’t surprised. I bet he’s dealing with nerve damage. I bet he’s dealing with a lot of stuff. You go get your neck cranked on with what he’s had done, it’s definitely not good. We’ll see. I could be completely wrong but I don’t know if he’s ever going to come back.” {H/T MMA Fighting}

The former two-time UFC Bantamweight Champion, TJ Dillashaw won his recent fight with a split decision against Cory Sandhagen. Dillashaw was banned for violating UFC anti-doping policies and returned to the game for the first time in more than two years and it was mandatory for him to go for knee surgery to repair the damage which prevents him from competing once more till 2022.

He added something about Sterling about his recent circumstances “You’re on top of the world. You’re champion. Yeah, you won it the way you did but now you’re going to start getting paid like a champion. You’re going to have these big fights. Take advantage of them while you can. Don’t go out and get this neck surgery.” {H/T MMA Fighting}

“I understand he’s got the problem, he has the injuries. I was dealing with two blown-out shoulders when I was the champion but I wasn’t willing to sit out for a year cause I had big paydays.”
