Darren Till scheduled to fight Derek Brunson

Darren Till and Derek Brunson have been presented with an opportunity to go at each other inside the octagon by the UFC. The promotion have scheduled a fight between the two middleweight fighters for a main event fight at UFC Fight Night on August 14.

Derek and Darren have been going at each other online for quite some while now and there is no doubt that both the contenders would love their hands to the do the talking inside the octagon. Darren Till and Brunson have agreed to a five-round middleweight headliner. The UFC have not still revealed the location for the fight. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported this news.

“The Gorilla” Till last fought in the octagon in the year 2020 and still hasn’t made a comeback. His last fight was against former champion Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Night 174 where he lost via decision in the main event fight. Darren Till was later scheduled to fight Marvin Vettori who is now challenging Israel Adesanya for the title but the fighter from Liverpool had to back out due to a broken collarbone.

Meanwhile Gorilla’s opponent, Derek Brunson is coming off a dominating victory against Kevin Holland from last March. Brunson has a record of 22-7-0 and is aiming to get a title shot very soon. And now it is confirmed that he will have to go through Liverpool’s finest Darren Till if he wants a shot at that UFC Middleweight title.

Darren Till was pulled off from the Vettori fight at the last moment after he was forced to withdraw due to a broken collarbone. Reports suggest that the fighter from England has still not got his medical clearances to get back into the octagon. UFC President Dana White, while revealing the news about the new matchup added that Till has yet to clear the medical tests post injury.

Darren Till injury might have cost him a title shot. Marvin Vettori later on went on to fight Holland and won the fight with ease sealing a spot for title challenge. If Darren had fought against Marvin and won he might have been the one taunting Adesanya for the belt at UFC 263’s main event fight.
