Tom Aspinall calls out Tai Tuivasa after submitting Alexander Volkov in the first round at UFC London
(Potentia)l Tai Tuivasa vs Tom Aspinall
Tom Aspinall came out with the impressive victory at UFC London, beating the veteran Alexander Volkov in just one round. Aspinall continues his title journey in an undefeated fashion.
Aspinall extended his unbeaten streak to five at the UFC with his submission victory over Volkov.
“To get a guy like Volkov, who had been finished twice in 45 fights, out of there in the first round shows credit to my finishing ability. My finishing ability is the highest of the high level.”– Tom Aspinall
Aspinall has torn through the heavyweight division since his arrival and has been open about not considering any fighter under the top 10 to be on his level. His victories over Andrei Arlovski and Volkov mean that he’s ready for tougher opponents. Now Aspinall has set his sights on Tai Tuivasa who has been rising through the rankings himself. Tuivasa is fresh off a knockout victory over Derrick Lewis which has him ranked third in the division.
Aspinall is currently ranked eleventh in heavyweight and after the win over Volkov, Dana White predicts he will be in the top five and a win over Tuivasa would place him firmly in contention for the title. Aspinall wants the Tuivasa fight as he is a fan of Tai’s style. He’s also a fan of Tuivasa as a potential opponent. Undoubtedly if the fight is scheduled it will be fireworks galore, a real treat for the fans.
“I’m a big fan of Tai – big shout-out, Tai,” Aspinall said. “The reason why I called out Tai is, first of all, I’m a massive fan of his style. Second of all, I’m a massive fan of his personality. The crowd goes wild when he fights. And apparently, the crowd goes wild when I fight. So me and him in the U.K., come on, bro. What a good time that would be. Let’s line it up (for) the next U.K. card. Get me and Tai on it – please.“
Dana White reacts to Tom Aspinall call-out of Tai Tuivasa
UFC President Dana White reacts to Tom Aspinall’s call out of Tai Tuivasa after he beat Alexander Volkov at UFC London.
Dana White was asked about the call-out at an interview after UFC London. The Aspinall Tuivasa matchup wasn’t something Dana would confirm. Like always Dana was vague about any details and commented that the matchup was something he would have to think about at a later time.
“I don’t know. I mean, we gotta go home and look and see what’s next, but, you know, obviously those are the kind of guys you should be calling out. He’s gonna end up in the top five after this performance.“- Dana White.
