UFC Vegas 17 (Co-Main Event): Former Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo back with a UD win against Marlon Vera

The co-main event of UFC Vegas 17 featured the former first UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo entering the Octagon against Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera. Aldo entered this fight with a loss against Petr Yan and Vera with a win against Sean O’Malley in their last fights.

Round 1: Vera started the round with few probing kicks, Aldo stands in the center with his guard high. Vera chopped Aldo’s leg and Aldo answered with quick punches. Vera rushes forward attempted for a takedown but Aldo defended it really well. Vera continued to work on his legs.

Aldo answered with a big left to the body, Aldo is attacked the center of the body. That low kicks from Aldo hurt Chito’s legs. Aldo again tagged to the body and leg. The round ends Aldo seemed to win this one easily.

Round 2: Aldo landed a three-punch combo at the start of the round followed by a left hand. Vera chopped the legs of Chito looking like the veteran Jose Aldo attacking the legs. A big left from Aldo sent Vera stumbled for a moment. Aldo didn’t look for more punches.

Vera landed a sneaky backfist and Aldo countered with a solid left hand. Aldo clinched and landed some knees to the body. The horn sounds.

Round 3: Vera knew that he needs to score a knockout now to win this one. Aldo wrapped the body of Vera at the starting of the round. Vera landed a sneaky elbow and Aldo jumped back in. Aldo stayed hung on his back worked for the body triangle. Vera tried to escape from the grip of Aldo.

Aldo tried to adjust and land a submission victory, Chito picked him up on his back and moved forward, and slams him down. But Aldo didn’t leave him and the round ends. It’s up to the judges now.

Result: Jose Aldo def Marlon Vera via unanimous decision (29-28,29-28,29-28)
