The number 10th UFC Welterweight fighter Geoff Neal is all set to face the number 9th ranked Welterweight fighter Neil Magny in the Welterweight contest at UFC Vegas 26.

Geoff Neal is coming into this fight facing the first loss of his UFC career against Stephen Thompson on UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs Neal in December 2020. Last August Geoff Neal and Neil Mangy were booked to face each other but Neal pulled his name due to health issues.

After this, both of them faced losses against different fighters but Geoff Neal believes his fight against Thompson was a good experience. In his latest interview with BJ Penn, Neal says,

“I learned a lot. He showed me a whole other level and keep going for five-round straight. I don’t think he slowed down at all, I can’t tell you too much about that fight, I wasn’t all the way there mentally in the first place.”

“But, I learned a lot seeing how he handled it. Even though he lost to Tyron Woodley, I basically fought a champion and I think he will get the belt soon.” {H/T BJ Penn}

Now he’ll face Neil Magny in a three-round fight and he knows this is an important one for him. Geoff Neal added, “Just keep my pace. I’ve had to find my pace and be able to keep it and not diminish my pace because I’m being pressured,”

“I’m an aggressive fighter so I’ve been working on keeping that aggressiveness for the entire fight.” {H/T BJ Penn}

Geoff Neal will look to face any top-ranked fighter with a win in this one

Geoff Neal is confident that against Neil Magny he’ll secure a first or second-round TKO win. Magny is also coming in this fight with a loss against Michael Chiesa and pressure will be on him also.

Neal added, “As far as his chin concern, anybody can get knocked out. You can have a great chin and get slept in the first 10 seconds of a fight. That doesn’t mean anything. Every time I fight, I go for the finish,”

“The first or second round ideally is when I try to get the job done, but if I don’t it will be a three-round grind and I’ll have to withstand his cardio. The goal is to knock him out in the first or second.” {H/T BJ Penn}

Geoff Neal concluded, “If I just get a decision, I’ll just be nine. If I do something amazing and starch him in the first round, I’ll get a bigger fight. I’m looking to do that,”

“I don’t like decisions, decisions are boring, finishes are what get you the big-name fights and big money.” {H/T BJ Penn}
