“I’ve been asking for a co-main event to do three rounds,” Chan Sung Jung talks about his disappointment for the UFC Vegas 29 main event

‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung will be entering his straight 8th main event fight against the rising Featherweight prospect, Dan Ige on UFC Vegas 29. After his loss against Brian Ortega in his last fight, Korean Zombie specifically asked UFC for a co-main event or three-round fight but his wish didn’t get granted.
Chan Sung Jung raised this demand to push some pace for his loss against ‘T-City’. In the UFC Vegas 29, pre-fight press conference, Korean Zombie seemed a little sad about one more main event spot against Dan Ige.
He says, “I’ve been asking for a co-main event to do three rounds, they didn’t give it to me. I was a little bit sad about that. There’s also an upside to being the main event. You get a lot more attention. A little bit more money and stuff like that. I definitely wanted to do a three-rounder.” {H/T MMA Junkie}
Now, he is facing Ige who won seven out of his last eight fights and he has been calling out Korean Zombie for a long time. Chan Sung Jung says after the match not being crafted for three rounds, he is ready to produce one more brawl against Dan Ige.
Jung added, “He’s a great all-around fighter, He likes to brawl, he’s an aggressive fighter which makes for an exciting fight. I’m super sorry, but I only knew who Ige was when he fought Calvin Kattar. … Dan’s a brawler.”
“If he wants to brawl, I’ll more than welcome that kind of fight. I thought a lot of people were saying that about Ortega, too, that he was going to brawl with me. I was ready for that and it never happened. So, we’ll see what happens.” {H/T MMA Junkie}
Chan Sung Jung still aiming to win the UFC title
After losing the title shot against Alexander Volkanovski, with his last loss against Ortega, Chan Sung Jung knows this win is really important for him. The Featherweight division is already stacked and with new contenders reaching the upper horizon, Korean Zombie isn’t willing to lose his spot.
He added, “I definitely look at the rankings, I still believe I’m in title contention, and my goal is to win a world title. If for some what-odd reason that I do lose this fight, then maybe I will be kind of an exciting fighter.”
