The number 9th ranked UFC Lightweight fighter, Islam Makhachev is going to face the number 14th ranked Lightweight fighter, Thiago Moises in a five-round main event fight at UFC Vegas 31.

This main event fight was originally scheduled between Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez but Holloway pulled out his name from the fight due to minor injury and the rising Lightweight contender Makhachev got the opportunity to headline the first-ever main event of his UFC career at UFC Vegas 31.

Talking about this in his latest interview with MMA Junkie, Islam Makhachev says, “I’m excited because this is my first main event, five rounds, this is good before they give me a title fight because I have to fight sometimes five rounds. I have to feel five rounds and I have to change my schedule for five rounds.”

Although, Makhachev hopes this fight will end soon but he has no problem in this fight going the distance. He added, “It doesn’t matter because I’m always training hard, doesn’t matter how many rounds,”

“That’s why when they called me with the main event and asked if i wanted to fight five rounds, I said of course. I’m always training hard that’s why it doesn’t matter five rounds.” {H/T MMA Junkie}

The Dagestani fighter, Islam Makhachev is on a seven-fight win streak and he is having a dream run inside the division. After securing a win against Thiago Moises he is aiming to get a crack at the top five fighters of the division.

He added, “I think it’s going to be some guy from top 5, I don’t know, I can think of a couple of guys, maybe RDA (Rafael Dos Anjos) or Tony (Ferguson). I was supposed to fight RDA in Abu Dhabi.”

“He got corona and they cancelled the fight and then I came to Vegas and I had an infection. We were supposed to fight, but maybe it’s next, I don’t know.” {H/T MMA Junkie}
