The women’s flyweight contest between Mariya Agapova (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Sabina Mazo (9-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) just went down at UFC Vegas 39.
Round 1 – Mazo tried to find her range with a couple of leg kicks. She moved in to start putting on some pressure on Agapova but she couldn’t find any success in doing so. Agapova looked clean with her hands and she battered Mazo with some sweets combos and well-placed kicks.
Round 2 – Agapova looked sharp in there, her boxing was on point and she was tagging Mazo left and right. Mazo was putting on the pressure but the counter punches from Agapova kept her at bay. Mazo went for a takedown but it got stuffed by Agapova who then landed a big right hand to finish the round strong.

Round 3 – Mazo knew she needed a finish to win this fight. She looked desperate and moved forward to land something big. Agapova remained calm and landed a crisp right hand that dropped her opponent. She immediately jumped to her back and finished the fight with a rear-naked choke.
