UFC Vegas 40: Holly Holm out of the main event against Norma Dumont, Aspen Ladd likely to make replacement

Holly Holm and Norma Dumont

The former UFC women’s Bantamweight champion, Holly Holm is out of her fight against Norma Dumont in the main event of UFC Vegas 40. This is the second time Holm has been forced to withdraw from her fight against Dumont.

Holly Holm last faced Irene Aldana in October 2020 at UFC on ESPN: Holm vs Aldana. She was booked to face Norma Dumont on October 16th main event but Holm suffered a knee injury and she was forced to withdraw from the fight.

This UFC Vegas 40’s fight card already lost the main event earlier as former UFC women’s Bantamweight champion, Miesha Tate pulled out her name from the fight against Ketlen Vieira. Tate was found positive for COVID and the promotion has rescheduled this fight for November 20th main event.

The number 3rd ranked UFC women’s Bantamweight fighter, Aspen Ladd is likely to replace Holly Holm in the main event against Norma Dumont. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to break this news, Ladd missed out on her fight against Macy Chiasson on UFC Vegas 38 last week.

Aspen Ladd had a really bad weight cut, she was shaking on the scale and after multiple failed attempts, Ladd missed the weight and her opponent refused to go on with the fight. If Aspen Ladd steps into this fight, she’ll be stepping into the Octagon after December 2019.

Ladd missed all her fights in 2020 and early 2021 due to torn ACL and after that she got some of the fights canceled as well. With Holm out of the fight against Norma Dumont once again, let’s see how the promotion will proceed with this fight card.
