Frank Camacho (22-9 MMA, 2-5 UFC) faced Manuel Torres (12-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) on the main card of UFC Vegas 54. It was Manuel’s UFC debut and he was looking to make the most out of this opportunity.
Camacho has been in 7 UFC fights, and he was on a two-fight skid. He was in a tough spot in his career, and he needed this win more than anyone.
Round 1 – Frank and Manuel acquired the center of the octagon as soon as the fight started. Manuel got things going with a hard left hook, he caught his opponent flush with a crisp combination, and Frank landed a big leg kick to get some separation. Frank realized it was going to be a brawl, and he stood at the center to trade punches with him.
Manuel started landing some big punches but his opponent was taking them pretty well, Frank started finding his timing as well, and some of the punches from him got through Manuel’s defense. Manuel was beating Frank punch to punch, and his opponent started looking for the takedowns.

Manuel stuffed every takedown attempt from his opponent and he stayed true to his boxing. He got Frank with a 1-2 combination, and while his opponent was backing up, he didn’t rush it, he took the smart approach, and drew punches from Frank. They got back to the center again, and a pull-back hook landed flush to end the night for Manuel’s opponent.
It was a big win for the young prospect, and he is definitely someone the entire lightweight division needs to look out for. Frank came after a three-year layoff, and it was a tough fight for him.
