Jorge Masvidal is one of the most popular fighters on the current UFC roster and carries a very eccentric personality in the promotion. Masvidal rose to fame after his iconic 7-sec knockout of Ben Askaren at UFC 239 and has since made himself a massive draw in the sport.
Masvidal is famous for many other things, one such thing is the widespread rumor of him going to jail in his early days. While the fighter has never spoken about it, fight fans have always been curious about it. During one interview with MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani, Masvidal was asked the same question again, which the fighter tried to ignore.
“We don’t need to talk about that. We’ll skip that one.” Helwani, being the interviewer, did his best to put more pressure on the fighter, “Why not? How old were you?” Asked Helwani.
Masvidal then played it off by saying, “When I what? Went to Disney World for the first time?.” It was a very interesting moment, as the ‘Gamebred’ didn’t necessarily accept or deny the accusations of going to jail. However, in the same interview, Masvidal spoke about his father being in jail. According to the fighter, watching his father behind bars warned him not to get into any kind of crime.

Even though Jorge Masvidal likes to keep the rumors about him going to jail in check, he got close to getting into jail last year in Miami. After his grudge fight against Colby Covington at UFC 272, Masvidal failed to deliver and lost the fight via unanimous decision. However, he wasn’t finished and decided to attack Masvidal on Miami beach. He broke Covington’s teeth and the ‘Chaos’ called the cops on Masvidal.
The cops arrested him and he was later bailed out of the prison. Masvidal was charged $15,000 for the bail and fans mocked ‘Gamebred’ for taking business outside the UFC octagon. It doesn’t look like Masvidal will ever get over his performance against Covington as in a recent interview on ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ mentioned how he would legally kill Covington in an MMA fight.
