Francis Ngannou gets a custom-made NFT leading to his first title defense. The UFC heavyweight champion is all set to defend his championship belt against Cyril Gane. The fight will take place at UFC 270 which is the first pay-per-view event of UFC’s 2022 campaign. The popularity of the fight is humongous as both the fighters have an interesting history between them.
Ngannou and Gane are former roommates and used to train together in the past. Since the announcement of the fight both the fighters have shown some amount of bad blood and annoyance towards each other.
Ngannou has become one of the most powerful fighters in the history of UFC. The French-Cameroonian emerged as a force of nature and went through everyone who came between him and the heavyweight title. His last loss was against Derrick Lewis at UFC 226 in 2018 since then the fighter has been undefeated. In the five-fight win streak, Ngannou has finished four of them in the first round via KO. He is currently known as the hardest recorded puncher in the world.
The power generated by Ngannou while throwing a punch is unparallel it’s nearly impossible for anyone to stand still after getting a perfect hit on the head.
Francis Ngannou customized his new NFT with a gold chain
ESPN MMA recently posted an Instagram post where they showed the clip of Ngannou getting a custom-made NFT for himself. NFTs are non-fungible token which is one of a kind digital asset that belongs to only one person. NFTs generally include any form of art, music, audio, video, etc.
The NFT made for Ngannou is in a form of a gold chain with a rectangular digital screen at the bottom. On the digital screen, there is a recorded clip of the fighter’s iconic knockout against Alistair Overeem.
The fight took place at UFC 218 on 2 December 2017 in Detroit, Michigan. The hype around the fight was huge as it was a battle between two of the most hard-hitting athletes in UFC. Ngannou won the fight by knocking out Overeem in the very first round. The knockout was described as one of the most brutal knockouts in the history of UFC.
