Watch: Robert Whittaker enjoys a heroes welcome to Australia as his children surprise him upon his return
Robert Whittaker
Former UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker didn’t get the job done at UFC 271, but at least he still got what he loves the most, his family. Whittaker fought his arch-nemesis and current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in a rematch in an attempt to reclaim what was once his. Unlike the first time they fought where Whittaker got finished by knockout back in 2019, he looked much better in the rematch against Adesanya and secured at least two rounds in a victory against the champion on the judges’ scorecards.
Whittaker used some of his pressure and most of his grappling to outclass Adesanya wherever he could, but Adesanya, as always, is too slick and tactical for the middleweight division which includes Whittaker himself. Regardless, these 2 together are elevated levels above the rest of the division and Whittaker believes by his heart that a trilogy against Adesanya is inevitable. For that, as Whittaker says, he has to “stomp” over everyone all over again, just the way he did it to get the rematch.
Robert Whittaker got the most amazing surprise that too from the trunk of his own car
As Whittaker was heading towards his car after coming out of the airport, he walked to open the trunk of his car for some purpose and there 3 of Whittaker’s 4 kids were waiting for their beloved father to give him a surprise. Watch this clip from ESPN MMA which was outsourced from Whittaker’s video below to see this truly humbling and wholesome moment.
What’s your reaction looking at this beautiful moment? What do you think about Whittaker’s future? At just 31 years of age, Whittaker has achieved more throughout his twenties than most of the fighters who are just coming out as prospects as of now. At this point, Whittaker has significant wins over Darren Till, Kelvin Gastelum, Jared Cannonier, Uriah Hall, Derek Brunson, Ronaldo Souza and Yoel Romero, twice! Do you think the trilogy with Adesanya will take place?
