Jorge Masvidal will fight Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. The fight card features the rematch between Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya for the Middleweight Championship. Gamebred fighter has not fought since his five-round decision loss to Colby Covington at UFC 272. Masvidal has been promoting his upcoming fight very well but has not gone to Fox News after what happened last time.
During the lead-up to the Colby Covington fight, both fighters went on Fox News to promote their fight. Fox News has a leaning towards the Republican party, and both Colby and Masvidal are supporters of the Republican party. So it made sense for them to go on Fox News. However, it did not turn out well for Masvidal as host Jesse Watters laughed at a Covington joke aimed at Masvidal. Watters said, “Oh my god, you’re a journeyman, haha,” which made Masvidal uncomfortable.
However, Masvidal composed himself and carried on like a professional in the interview. Jesse Watters and Masvidal went on to talk about politics and the Olympics. He also promoted his fight with Colby stating that Colby does not know a thing about politics or anything else.

Jorge Masvidal has not won a fight since 2019, and his last win was a doctor stoppage against Nate Diaz. Since then, he has lost all his fights, with two coming against Kamaru Usman and one with Colby Covington. At UFC 287, Masvidal hopes to return to the winning column with a victory over Gilbert Burns.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani, Masvidal said, “You can’t miss weight by 8.5 pounds and call for title shots. Go fight and then talk. [Gilbert Burns], the guy that he got a split decision win over, I’m about to go bury that dude, bro.”
Masvidal did not appreciate Chimaev missing weight by 9 pounds in his fight against Nate Diaz. He also did not like Chimaev asking for a title shot after such unprofessional behaviour. Chimaev will move to fight in the Middleweight division, whereas Masvidal will look to beat Burns at UFC 287.
