Recently retired UFC star Jorge Masvidal has again made the headlines as news spread of his father being taken into police custody. The incident reported was that Masvidal’s father shot a person in the arm. At that time, the former fighter was not present at home and was unaware of the situation.
Jorge Masvidal is not involved in this feud, as the police confirmed. The victim was shot in the arm and immediately rushed to the nearest hospital. As per sources, he is now in stable condition. Right now, the cause of the argument that caused this chaos has not yet been revealed. There were two shots fired at the victim.
Since the police are still investigating the issue, the MMA community still remembers when the former BMF champ told about his father being in jail. However, Jorge Masvidal has never shared much about his father’s life with the media. Masvidal is one of the most famous figures in the MMA world, known for his heated arguments and fights. In the interview progressing for UFC 244 with Masvidal, Ariel asked him about his prison time. Gamebred first refused to talk about it and indicated to the reporter that he was uncomfortable with the question. But on asking about his father’s life in jail, Gamebred told him that he went there because of his past mistakes, which he committed during his growing age.
But when he was asked about his father, Masvidal said, “Yeah well he’s a very strong instrument in my life. In my career I grew up visiting him in the penitentiary.” Then Ariel Helwani asked him on ESPN MMA if that was why his dad was in Jail. ‘Gamebred’ disclosed it was due to drug charges.
Jorge’s father was sentenced to 22 years in jail, out of which he spent 18 years. Masvidal was a regular visitor in jail. He also said that he learned to avoid illegal activities from a very young age. Later, Gamebred confirmed that the rumors about him being in jail were not 100% true.
