Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold lost his BKFC debut against Mike Perry. Rockhold has had some great highlights in his fighting days. Besides his fighting career, Luke Rockhold also stood out in other activities. The former UFC middleweight champion once wore his cowboy hat to wrestle a bull in Montana.
Luke Rockhold managed to grab a bull by his horns and additionally secure a full mount. In the video on Rockhold’s Instagram account, the MMA veteran held a bull’s neck behind the closed gates. The beast ran free when the gates opened, and Luke tried to hold it down. Rockhold had the bull in his hold before it momentarily hit the ground. Even though the bull was back up, it wasn’t free from Luke’s clutches.
He finally took the bull down and secured a full mount on the bull for a limited time frame. However, the bull found some wiggle room and escaped Luke’s clutches. Luke then returned to the audience triumphantly, ending the video. The whole incident is uploaded on Rockhold’s Instagram account captioned, “Life can be tough, sometimes you gotta grab the bull by the horns. In need of that Montana energy.”
Needless to say, Luke had an adventurous visit to Montana. The video amassed over 300k views on the social media platform. The former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov commented on the post. This makes Rockhold the second elite grappler to fight a beast right after Khabib Nurmagomedov.

When Luke Rockhold was surprised by Islam Makhachev’s wrestling
Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold admitted that Islam Makhachev once sent him flying during their grappling session. Rockhold trained with Islam Makhachev for his fight against Lyoto Machida in 2015. Rockhold did not take him seriously, as Makhachev was a new recruit in the American Kickboxing Academy. Luke also had a significant weight advantage over Islam.
However, Rockhold’s delusion quickly shattered after Islam put on his strength and skills to display. He said, “I was just moving with a good body to move with, and I was underestimating him. And I was like, kind of got lazy and he hit me with a massive head-and-arm throw, just threw me over the top. He’s got some tricks, no doubt. But he did catch me being lazy and threw me once or twice.”
Rockhold later added that Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov were the only two 155-pounders he was not able to rag doll. With Islam outperforming a stronger and heavier opponent, it is no shock why he reigns as the current lightweight champion.
