“Always down for a challenge,” When NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes hilariously accepted to ‘badminton’ challenge for UFC pro-fighter

In 2021, Kansas City fighter Julian Marquez fought Sam Alvey in a three-round fight that ended with a submission victory for Marquez. Julian is among the most eccentric fighters in the UFC, even calling out Miley Cyrus for a date after a fight. However, after his win over Alvey, he had some “interesting people” to call out in his post-fight interview. They were none other than Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce.
Julian Marquez proceeded to call out Superbowl Champions Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill for a badminton competition. He said, “I am the entertainment you pay to see, but ABC gave it to you for free. So now I have a call out to give out to everyone from Kansas City. And this is one thing, this is my time right now. So Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, I challenge you guys to a badminton or pickleball competition.” Mahomes responded on Twitter, “need a couple weeks but Im always down for a challenge.”
Despite the call-out and interest shown by Patrick Mahomes, nothing materialised. On Twitter, Mahomes accepted the call-out. Since then, Tyreek Hill has left the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes and Travis Kelce went on to win Superbowl 56 in 2023, becoming two-time champions. Mahomes also won the NFL MVP for the second time in his career and the Superbowl MVP.
Since the call-out, things have not gone well for Marquez. He has lost his coach James Krause, who remains under investigation for a potential breach of Gambling violation. He has also lost both fights since calling out Mahomes and Kelce. Gregory Rodrigues knocked him out in 2022, and at UFC 285, he lost to Marc-André Barriault via TKO.
Julian Marquez hilariously called out Miley Cyrus before Patrick Mahomes
The Kansas City-based UFC fighter called out Superbowl-winning Quarterback Mahomes in 2021 for a badminton bout. However, before calling out Mahomes, Julian asked Miley Cyrus out on a date after defeating Maki Pitolo at UFC 258.
In his post-fight interview, he said, “I have been waiting 31 months to get on this damn mic and to call these people out. Right now, it’s my time to shine… So, Miley Cyrus, will you be my Valentine’s?” It was a hilarious attempt from an eccentric fighter who always speaks his mind.
Marquez returned to the Octagon this year at UFC 285 against Marc-André Barriault. The fight did not go his way, as he lost the bout via TKO in the second round.
