“White listed”- Tony Ferguson takes jab at Michael Chandler’s “Dana White privilege”
Tony Ferguson on Michael Chandler
UFC Lightweight Michael Chandler had possibly the best debut year in UFC history. A highlight-reel knockout, a title match, and a fight of the year, you name it, Chandler has done it all. However, 2022 holds possibly even bigger treats for the Bellator MMA legend. A respectful callout of Conor McGregor and digging Dustin Poirier for the latter’s performance at UFC 269 might have secured him some seat.
But so far, the most actively reciprocating fighter for Chandler’s 2022 fight schedule seems to be the one and only Tony Ferguson. Ferguson and Chandler go way back to September of 2020 when Chandler signed with the UFC, they were supposed to meet in October but Ferguson wanted the fight to happen in December by the time of which Chandler backed out because he was already in the training camp as a backup fighter to UFC 254 main event then.
Ferguson and Chandler got involved in a Twitter war a little while ago, and UFC president Dana White claimed that they are more than excited to make this fight happen.
Tony Ferguson slams UFC for giving “special treatment” to Michael Chandler
These two competed at UFC 262, and during the press conference, Ferguson called out Chandler for ducking him. Chandler was heading the event for the undisputed lightweight title against Charles Oliveira, and Ferguson said he got his chance because of “Dana White privilege.”
Chandler recently appeared on ESPN’s talk show hosted by Daniel Cormier (DC & RC) and RC pointed out that Ferguson was on a 12 fight winning streak, but he never got the title shot, and Chandler got his chance with just 1 win in the UFC. Tony took notice of this, and he posted a photo of Chandler and himself from his Instagram account. He is trying to prove a point, and he promised he will settle the score inside the octagon.
