Chimaev and Burns have gone back and forth for quite some time now. Fans weren’t however convinced it would come to reality until very recently when the superstar in making posted a story that confirmed the talks between two fighters. Nothing excites the UFC fans more than seeing the “Borz” step into the octagon and do what he does best.
Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns most likely to feature at UFC 273
According to the private chat between Khamzat and Burns, it looks like the two are eyeing the pay-per-view event that is held at the Barclays Center. UFC 273. So far the only other fight that is happening for sure is the much-anticipated women’s bantamweight bout in Aspen Ladd vs Irene Aldana. It won’t matter too much who else is on the card because one can best believe Khamzat will have all the spotlight for himself.
Chimaev is on a crazy run in the UFC. The fighter is undefeated in his career and has already won four fights in the promotion and all of them have been by the finish. His most recent win was against Li JingLiang at UFC 267. Gilbert Burns, on the other hand, is coming off a great win against former title challenger Stephen Thompson at UFC 264.
Burns and Chimaev agreeing to fight don’t come off as much of a surprise given that the Brazilian had already revealed to Canal Combate that he would fight the Chechnyan. “We’re looking at a fight in April. We’re looking at who the opponent could be. It could be Khamzat Chimaev, who was one of the few guys who accepted and we are in this negotiation there. We’ll see. It could very well be him in this next fight,” he said.
