Recently, the UFC and Henry Cejudo have had a  feud over Cejudo not getting a title shot as he demanded. Now, former UFC champion Michael Bisping shares his opinion on the issue.

As a matter of fact, Bisping is also a part of the fight Henry always referred to while asking for the title shot. He was the champion when GSP returned after four years to beat him.  While talking about Henry’s statement that if he had blonde hair and blue eyes then he would have gotten the chance, Michael Bisping said on his youtube channel:

“I don’t think he played the race card. I think what he was saying is that if my name was GSP then I would have got the shot because GSP had four years away from the sport then came back and choked me…. The reality is you are not called GSP. You don’t have the resume of George Saint Pierre and you are not the star that GSP was.”

Michael Bisping revealed why Henry will not be given the opportunity. He said Henry was once offered the chance to compete directly with another division’s champion but he retired after defending it once.

When you are a champion of another weight class and you are afforded the opportunity to do so (get a title shot in another weight class) it is a massive favor… the UFC gave him that… they are not going to do it again. When they did it the last time you retired.

Talking about why GSP got the opportunity and not Henry Cejudo, Bisping stated: “GSP came back and he did do that but as they say the UFC put on the fights that people want to see. GSP had an entire nation behind him in terms of Canada he also had a tremendous love worldwide…and on top of that, I wanted the fight. When the champion wants it you are halfway there, when the people want it you are three-quarters of the way there the last thing you need is the UFC to think it’s a good idea as well. But, the only one who wanted it in this situation was Henry Cejudo.

This is certainly true that apart from Cejudo neither UFC nor Alexander wanted the fight. Volkanovski stated that it would be unfair for the guys in the division if someone comes in and cuts the line. Nevertheless, since it is obvious that the fight is not happening Cejudo might return to fight this year as hinted by his manager Ali on Twitter.
