Head-kick knockouts are usually astonishing, but not when they end boxing matches! That’s what happened over the weekend when ONE Championship prospect Idris Abdurashitov landed a brutal kick to the face of his opponent. Idris Abdurashitov (4-0) fought for ONE Championship at ONE Friday Fights 78 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Head-kick KOs are always viral and fun. Kendra McIntyre’s head-kick shocker at LFA 182 was one for ages. But this was different. He finished in way of a stoppage in the second round. He was clearly losing and getting beat up by national boxing team member Bagher Faraji. At the end of some wild swings, he distanced 1-3 boxer Bagher Faraji with a wild head kick!

It’s nothing to be proud of, throwing a head kick in a boxing match. One gets DQ’d for mixing up MMA rules in the standup pre-boxing grind. Faraji had no idea the kick was there. As soon as it landed, he was out cold; he bent over and crashed to the canvas, and Abdurashitov faced a DQ.

Abdurashitov immediately walked to his corner and left the ring. It’s likely the Russian fighter struggles to find a fight in a legitimate promotion after that dirty kick. Once the clip went viral on social media, combat sports fans took to bashing the action. Some subsequently called for a ban… for life.

More recently, a fight at ONE Fight Night 83 ended with an accidental soccer kick.

Some have even alluded that a lawsuit with intent to harm might be in order. All in all, Abdurashitov’s choice to do so will remain a very hot topic for a while.
