Once again, well, for the fifth time in a single season, the tennis world will enjoy a blockbuster Carlos Alcaraz versus Jannik Sinner final. The two youngsters don’t need to prove anymore that a permanent changing of the guard has already happened in tennis.
In the first semifinal, Alcaraz booked the final spot by breezing past Novak Djokovic in straight sets. Next, Sinner had to toil a bit against Felix Auger-Aliassime but eventually the semifinal ended in his favor in four sets.

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Jannik Sinner: Match Preview
Carlos Alcaraz is chasing his seventh title of the season after victories at the Rotterdam Open, Monte Carlo Masters, Italian Open, French Open, Queen’s Club Championships, and the Cincinnati Masters. He played two more finals, losing to Holger Rune and Jannik Sinner in the Barcelona Open and Wimbledon finals, respectively.

En route to the New York Slam final, the Spaniard did not drop a set – this happened for the first time in his Grand Slam campaigns. If he stops Sinner from defending the title in straight sets, he will become the first man in the Open Era to win the US Open without losing a set.
Although Sinner missed three months this season, his final tally is six. He defended his Australian Open crown by moving past Alexander Zverev, before losing the Italian Open and the French Open finals to the five-time Grand Slam champion.
He took his revenge by clinching his career’s second grass-court title at Wimbledon. The Italian ace then scheduled the Cincinnati Masters clash with Alcaraz, but as he was sick, he gave the walkover to the World No.2.
Sinner will be dethroned by Alcaraz from the No.1 spot if he fails to defend the title. A win will make him the first man since Roger Federer (2008) to defend the US Open crown. It will also make him the second man in history to defend both the hardcourt Majors after Federer (2006- 2007).
The four-time Major champion will also be playing his fourth Grand Slam final of the season, becoming the fourth man in the Open Era to do so (also the youngest man to achieve this). Alcaraz is third on the list of players with the most Majors finals (seven) before turning 23. Since the Italian Open, whenever the two players are in the draw, they have ended up reaching the final, and now it’s for the fifth consecutive time.
Carlos Alcaraz vs. Jannik Sinner: Match Prediction
Both Sinner and Alcaraz are aiming to double their US Open title rally. It was at Flushing Meadows back in 2022 that Alcaraz defeated Norway’s Casper Ruud to win his career’s first Grand Slam title. Sinner triumphed over home favorite Taylor Fritz in straight sets last year.

Now, who is the favorite to win? Alcaraz is the most successful player on the tour this season, but Sinner is on a 27-match winning streak in hardcourt Majors, with the streak starting at the 2024 Australian Open, where he won his career’s first Major by defeating Daniil Medvedev.
Alcaraz has an edge if the head-to-head record is considered. He holds a 9-5 lead and also defeated Sinner five consecutive times before Wimbledon.
Match prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in five sets.
