Lewis Hamilton has been in the sport for 15 years now. He has had various teammates and mostly all of them challenged him to his peak being world champions themselves. But Lewis has been the closest to his former driver Valtteri Bottas driving beside him for the last 5 years. 2022 saw another change in Mercedes line up shuffling the pair and bringing in young talent George Russell.

Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have been the best possible lineup a team would hope for. The duo won 5 championships in 5 years, helping Mercedes with their eight titles. Bottas didn’t really have a season he would love to keep in mind in 2021. He was later on changed with George Russell, sending him to his new ventures with Alfa Romeo. Valtteri was set to be a second driver at Mercedes, but he won 10 races while being in the silver arrow.

Hamilton opened up about his relationship with Valtteri after his team changed, “Valtteri and I are actually very close. We travel to and from most of the races together, so we are together a lot. We always have conversations, I’m really grateful that this friendship has continued because we really had great years together, and the respect is huge between us,” said Lewis.

Alfa Romeo hasn’t really been strong in the last few years. Though coming in 2022 Alfa did look strong, strong enough for a podium a few times. Though it hasn’t really happened, yet Alfa looks really strong with points finishing almost every race. Lewis appreciated the comeback from the team and his former teammate helping them to get ahead.

Lewis’s appreciation for the team went, “They’ve had an up and down year, but Valtteri is really doing an amazing job there. I think both of the drivers are doing a great job given the challenges that we all have with our cars, and I’m excited for their future,” said Lewis.

Though Mercedes seems to struggle a lot in 2022 currently has the best pair in the team. George in his first year beside Lewis is challenging him head to head with his consistency and has already been on the podium six times with one pole to his name.
