Vasek Pospisil has shared that he was surprised by Novak Djokovic’s recent comments. Djokovic spoke about the lawsuit filed by the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), which they co-founded in 2020. Pospisil expected more support from him.
In March, the PTPA filed a legal case against the ATP and WTA tours, along with the ITF and the ITIA. The group accused these tennis bodies of acting like a “cartel.” They claimed there were unfair rules and bad treatment of players.
I was surprised. I don’t know why he said that…it was not in line with our previous conversations.
The lawsuit includes 11 current or former players, including Pospisil and Nick Kyrgios. It originally had 12, but Jay Clarke later pulled out. Notably, Djokovic is not part of the case, even though he helped start the PTPA.
Novak Djokovic hopes to land top 4 seeding at Roland Garros
The clay court season has started, and players are already looking ahead to the French Open. Roland Garros begins in the last week of May. Until then, top players will try to improve their rankings and get better seedings for the Grand Slam.

Jannik Sinner is expected to be the top seed. Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev are fighting for the second seed. There’s also a key battle between Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic for the fourth seed spot. Being in the top four is very important. It helps avoid facing other top players like Sinner or Alcaraz before the semi-finals. The fifth seed, on the other hand, could face a top player as early as the quarter-finals.
Right now, Fritz has the edge. He holds 5,280 ranking points. Djokovic is behind with 4,120 points after losing early in Monte Carlo. Fritz missed that tournament but lost very few points. This gives him a clear lead in the race for the fourth seed.
Jannik Sinner on the verge of eclipsing Novak Djokovic’s record
Jannik Sinner is on the verge of achieving a major ranking milestone. Even though he is currently not playing, he is closing in on records held by Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. His time at world No. 1 continues to grow.

Sinner first reached the top of the ATP Rankings on June 10, 2024, passing Djokovic. Since then, he has stayed at No. 1 for 45 straight weeks. During this time, he won six big titles, including the US Open, Australian Open, and ATP Finals.
He will keep his No. 1 spot for at least a few more weeks. Neither Carlos Alcaraz nor Alexander Zverev can pass him before he returns at the Italian Open next month. This means he will soon move to fourth place on the list for longest first-time runs at No. 1.
Novak Djokovic held the top spot for 53 weeks in his first stint, starting on July 4, 2011. He took over from Rafael Nadal after winning Wimbledon. Djokovic’s first run as No. 1 included wins at the US Open, Australian Open, and Miami Open.
