Fresh off a record-breaking rookie campaign, San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama showed class and maturity beyond his age while conversing with Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer. He asserted that he is “immune” to certain kinds of distractions and doesn’t think about getting involved with them at all.

Since stepping on the court, he has stayed clear of wild acts that have plagued rising stars before him while solely focused on being the best basketball player ever. He prefers the quiet lifestyle, and luckily, he has found a balance that also does not affect his social skills with his teammates.

I just feel like I'm immune to the things people try to tell me, oh pay attention to this, oh watch out, all the bad things. Distractions. Partying, alcohol, drugs, whatever. Why would I ever do that?--I don't have nothing to compensate for.

Unfortunately for him, the San Antonio Spurs didn’t get the best season, as they’re known for their champion mentality. Luckily, they can rebuild and provide the tentative Rookie of the Year and future Defensive Player of the Year with the support he needs.

NBA players eager to join forces with Wemby

Victor Wembanyama also told Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer that he has been contacted by some players who have genuinely expressed interest in teaming up with him. O’Connor had asked if his potential had drawn interest from his fellow professionals from other teams in the league.

Yeah, I've received some messages, even from prospects. But I try to sustain my role. It's a whole new world that I'm eager to discover. For sure, one day or the other, I'll have to be involved in this, I guess, even though I'm staying in my role as a player.

With his team finishing second from bottom in the Western Conference with a poor 22-60 record, he was a standout player, and even though he claimed to be operating at a 15% level, he lived up to the hype post-drafting. No wonder other players are willing to star alongside him.

During his record-breaking rookie season, basketball lovers witnessed him posting averages of 21.4 PPG, 10.6 RPG, 1.8 APG, and a league-leading 3.6 blocks per game. Furthermore, the prospect of playing alongside Wemby is an attractive option to many. If two All-Star players can join up and combine forces with him, then fans can all expect to see an explosive team performance next season from the Spurs sensation.
