Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs have pulled off the unthinkable. In his first-ever NBA playoffs, Wembanyama has led his team into the NBA Finals for the first time in 12 years.

Heading into Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, the pressure was immense on both the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Spurs. However, in the end, the Spurs showed the NBA world why they are the best team in the West with a closely contested 111-103 victory at the Paycom Center on Saturday night.

After the win, Wembanyama broke down, leaving him emotional as he embraced his teammates. It is a remarkable achievement as it was the first postseason appearance for most of the Spurs squad.

Victor Wembanyama was drafted by the Spurs for moments like this. When the club selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft, they knew they had a player who could lead the franchise and dominate the league for years to come.

After getting blown away in Game 6, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder would have had some doubts coming into Game 7. While the reigning MVP put in a strong performance with 35 points and nine assists, his teammates struggled to find any rhythm when it mattered the most.

Wembanyama is already doing wonders for the Spurs. The win marked another dazzling milestone on Wembanyama’s rise as the new face of the NBA and the beginning of a new era.

Victor Wembanyama was named the Western Conference Finals MVP

There were no doubts that the Western Conference Finals MVP would go to either Victor Wembanyama or Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. After losing out on the MVP award to the Canadian international, there was no way Wembanyama was going to let SGA win another award over him.

Wembanyama and the Spurs will take on the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals. The Knicks are on a historic run at the moment, but Wembanyama will be high on confidence after knocking out the defending champions.
