A Connecticut Sun fan got into an argument with Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark during the WNBA playoffs

On Wednesday (September 25), Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever teammates went out onto the court to bring the WNBA playoff series back to level terms. In Game 2 of the WNBA playoffs against the Connecticut Sun, an incident between a fan and the rookie superstar turned ugly.

The incident happened towards the end of the first quarter. After an apparent exchange with a fan in the second row of the courtside seats, referees stopped play and went up to Clark to ask about the situation. She pointed out to a fan and said that he had said something to her, after which the referees informed the arena security.

However, the fan was not done with the Indiana Fever rookie as he again began to speak something. With the camera focused on the 22-year-old star, it captured her giving the fan a piece of her mind. Stadium cameras then panned out to show the security team discussing the situation. Then they walked towards the fan, who looked to be a Connecticut Sun supporter, and asked him to step out with them.

It seems the entire incident stemmed from an earlier incident between Caitlin Clark and Sun’s DeWanna Bonner. The rookie wanted a foul call against Bonner and constantly argued with the referee. But when the two-time champion stepped in to give her version, Clark lashed out, which could what ticked off the fan.

Caitlin Clark’s remarkable rookie season comes to an end

That incident however did not linger on everyone’s minds for too long. Play resumed and there was no other skirmish until the end. The star-studded Connecticut Sun decided to impose their will and tilt the game towards their side.

Caitlin Clark led all scorers with 25 points as the Indiana Fever closed the gap and even took back the lead. But then the Sun, led by Marina Mabrey, scored crucial points to give them the lead, which they kept until the end. In the dying minutes, the young Fever squad committed turnovers and could not convert shots.

Ultimately, they fell to the Sun as the veterans rounded out a win. That win meant that Clark’s incredible rookie season came to an end. The Connecticut Sun will now face the Minnesota Lynx in the semifinals whereas Clark and her teammates will go home.
