Carlos Alcaraz enjoyed a training session with Roger Federer at the Shanghai Masters. The 21-year-old had minor flight issues to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the Six Kings Slam. Instead of wasting precious time, he took the luxury of having an unforgettable moment with Federer in training.
The Spaniard has been in brilliant form this season. He won his first title at the Indian Wells Masters, beating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. Alcaraz then won back-to-back Grand Slams at the Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
However, he suffered a dip in form during the North American hard court swing, where he earned just one win across two tournaments. Alcaraz bounced back at the China Open, winning the title after beating Jannik Sinner in three sets.
At the Shanghai Masters, the 21-year-old succumbed to a disappointing straight-set loss to Tomas Machac in the quarterfinals. After the tournament, his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, organized a small practice session with Federer.
After that session, Alcaraz stated that it was a privilege for him to train with the Swiss maestro. He added he learned personal lessons from his discussion with Federer.
We talked about how I have to approach my matches, my game style, off-court (life). He told me many things which I will keep for myself.

Alcaraz has been dubbed to take over the reins from Rafael Nadal. However, despite his great talent, he is yet to be as consistent as Nadal on the court. Perhaps the Spaniard will use the practice sessions to learn a few things about great players like Federer.
Carlos Alcaraz declares he is in “full power” ahead of his semifinal match with Rafael Nadal at the Six Kings Slam
Carlos Alcaraz has continued with his fine form at the Six Kings Slam. He opened his account on Wednesday (October 16) with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Holger Rune. The Spaniard will next face his idol and compatriot Rafael Nadal in the semifinals.

Alcaraz and Nadal recently partnered in the doubles at the Paris Olympics. The duo reached the quarterfinals before exiting the event. Ahead of their meeting in the last four of the exhibition tournament in Riyadh, Alcaraz said that he would go ‘full power’ against his compatriot.
I’m gonna go full. Full power. I’m not surprised that he’s playing at 100% in practice. Hitting the ball super hard and feeling it really well. The player he is, the legend he is, it doesn’t matter that he stayed away from tennis 3 or 4 month.
Carlos Alcaraz said in an on-court interview
Alcaraz and Nadal have faced each other three times in their careers, with the former holding a 2-1 in their head-to-head record. They last faced each other in the 2022 Madrid Open quarterfinals, where Alcaraz won in three sets.
