Looks like George Pickens didn’t like how the Washington Commanders intercepted his quarterback Russell Wilson’s pass during Sunday’s game. The visibly furious wide receiver was seen attacking Commanders’ cornerback Mike Sainristil immediately after the interception.
It happened late in the third quarter when Pickens was attempting to connect with veteran quarterback Wilson for a pass on the 26-yard line. However, Washington’s Jeremy Chinn sensed the play and went in to intercept the pass by jumping in the air before the Pittsburgh Steelers star.
However, instead of running down the ball carrier, the All-Pro wide receiver attacked the opposing cornerback Sainristil, who came to cover him. Grabbing him by his helmet, Pickens fell on the ground and escalated the situation by continuing to throw punches, which quickly turned into a physical altercation as Sainristil fought back.

Fortunately, neither player was penalized for the brawl following the interception. However, this wasn’t the first time the Steelers’ star wideout has been involved in physical altercations. In his rookie year, he was ejected after a fight with Cincinnati Bengals players near the end of a game, and he was also known for brawling during his college days at Georgia Tech.
George Pickens thrives under Russell Wilson’s leadership
Besides that infamous moment from the game, Pickens truly became a nightmare for the Commanders’ defense. In the first quarter of Sunday’s game, he made a spectacular 16-yard rainbow catch from quarterback Wilson, giving his team an early lead.
The star wide receiver had a slow start this season with Justin Fields, but his performance quickly enhanced since the nine-time Pro Bowler took over the starting quarterback role. In the last three games– all of which resulted in victories–the Pro Bowler receiver has averaged 92 receiving yards, compared to just 60.5 yards in the first six games.
The quarterback-wide receiver duo has built a three-game winning streak since Wilson came in center in Week 8 and improved the Steelers to a 7-2 record, which was 4-2 under backup quarterback Fields. They are next scheduled to face off the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11 on Sunday.
